One off

Currently listening to ‘Symphony in One Movement’ by Alexander Goehr. Heavy, meaty stuff. Deep and satisfying. Apparently he writes one of everything. One Symphony, one piano concerto, one string quartet, one piano quintet, etc. But I don’t think that’s strictly true. There’s not much of his stuff on Amazon, which should make it easy to find.

Japanese Artists – king24

This is from a Japanese LP (the King Records label) issued around 1968. If anybody can translate it then maybe you’d best not say, because I’ll want you to translate all 14 pieces on the LP.

What’s really nice is the style of backing vocals – a chorus of female Sprechgesangers (doubtless there’s a Japanese term for this) reciting, not singing, the accompaniment. It’s certainly not ordinary talking or declamatory, but clearly disciplined. Gorgeous.
